It's all about mixing the everyday nitty-gritty details of reality with a dose of humor, movement, and wonder. Paying attention to moments we sometimes take for granted, like patterns, light and shadows, and everyday objects, I play with presenting common subjects in an uncommon way.
Educated in design, technique, color, and composition (BFA, JMU 1996), I have developed my own unique painting style, involving organic flowing line-work and brilliant color.
Over the past few years I have delved into graphic design and illustration. My work is now seen on various products, labels, brochures, packaging, logos, and more. (See my Design page for more)

about the details...
I paint with Sennelier watercolors and archival ink, on 140 or 300 lb hot press watercolor paper. As a trained professional framer, all framing is done in my studio, with archival boards, adhesives, and UV protective glass. My framing style is simple white matting and thin black metal frames, which highlight the lines in the paintings.
Oils and acrylics are on canvas or cradled masonite, as noted. Typically the images are continued to the sides of the canvas so that framing is not necessary, or can be done simply.
I also make prints, notecards, and pendants. In the late months of the year, I also make calendars. Everything is made with my hands and/or my computer. See my store for examples. Special orders are welcome!
Commission ideas, portraits, logos, album covers, tattoos, etc are also welcome! See the "Custom" page or contact me and we'll come up with something fantastic!
